What is hime Care Final pic

Home care is a service that provides assistance to those who need help with their daily living activities at home. When asked, over 90% of seniors said they would rather stay at home to receive the extra care they need, rather than have to move to a nursing home or assisted living facility. Our care specialist can come to your home and assist with all of your home care needs. We are available 24 hours a day, including holidays. If you need as little as 30 min a day or as much as 24 hour care, we are here for you. Call us to discuss your care needs in the Sacramento and surrounding counties area. 916-333-0383.

Most of our clients are discharged from a hospital or other type of rehabilitation facility. When returning home, usually there are doctor’s orders for home health visits. Most people are unaware, home health is not the same as home care. Each home health visit generally lasts less than an hour, and is discontinued after three to four weeks. Home care on the other hand, focuses on family members who need assistance with routine daily living activities. Our services range from companion care to special supervision needed for Alzheimer’s and Dementia, to assistance with hygiene, bathing, grooming and toileting.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

Your loved one will experience a mixture of assistance with chores, household needs, as well as soft elements like talking, listening and companionship. All of these are essential ingredients for successfully aging at home in their Golden Years. For example, a daily morning visit could involve: Wake-up and assistance with bathing. Making breakfast together. Followed by discussing the day’s news from TV or newspaper. Then simple cleaning chores. Retrieving the mail, and assistance with email. A walk around the block. Finishing with preparing lunch.

There are many schedules that work well. Every client’s needs are different. Golden Years Senior Care can craft a personalized schedule that works. For example, here are several schedules:

  • Moring wake-up and assistance.
  • Daily Mid-day Checkup
  • Full day assisted living at home
  • 24 hour multi-shift home care
  • Home care certain alternating days
  • And many more

Hiring a Caregiver vs. Handling Care Myself

If you are considering what it takes to handle in home care yourself, you are not alone. Many adult children struggle with the time demands and emotional drain of caring for an aging parent at home. Whether your loved one lives in your home, or separately at their own home, daily care can be exhausting. Not only to the family, and work schedule, but also there are emotional costs to the aging senior.

If you are the informal caregiver of your senior parent, you likely already feel the stress. You are part of the growing number of family caregivers who are putting on hold their own career, sleep, and peace-of-mind in exchange for caring directly for an aging family member.

In addition to the duties of typical caregiving, there are deep relational and emotional expectations that come along with it. And often, these expectations can make it harder on the senior as well.

While counting the costs, consider the emotional and time costs, that could otherwise be avoided by using an in home care professional visit.

Home Care vs. Senior Housing

Senior housing, especially assisted living centers, with all their perks, staffing, and overhead, can be one of the most expensive forms of care for seniors.

In home care is a more affordable option, that brings the best of dedicated care, along with the comforts and familiarity of being at home. In addition, the cost of in-home care can be up to 50% less money if care is provided on specific time-of-day schedules.

Another option to consider compared with senior living is to provide a hybrid of visiting, along with an in-home caregiver when needed. This provides some cost savings, along with assistance when it is needed most. Either way, aging at home can be made possible by simply having an in-home care professional help.
